Jake Shore is a Report for America Corps Member at nonprofit investigative newsroom, The Current, based in Savannah, Ga.

He reports on public safety issues in Coastal Georgia, writing in-depth stories on topics from police misconduct to fire safety to incarceration. 


Jake has been reporting on criminal justice issues in the South since 2020 and has won multiple awards for his coverage.





Covering public safety in Savannah and along Georgia’s coast has taken Jake to jails, police departments, city council meetings, courthouses, and even the firing range. He’s written numerous investigations that helped create change in the area.


Jake was featured in the HBO documentary “Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty” to speak on his work covering the Murdaugh murders while working at The Island Packet newspaper.


Between 2021 and 2022, Jake was honored with multiple awards from the South Carolina Press Association for reporting on the courts, police and the Murdaugh family.
